In Patagonia in southern Chile, in Haru Oni – which means “land of wind” – the first plant to produce synthetic fuels – so called e-fuels has started operations. It is able to use the constant winds to produce hydrogen which is then turned into a synthetic e-fuel chemically identical to gasoline.

A report in text, photo and film by our correspondent Jean-Cosme Delaloye about this innovative project, which could go down in history as a landmark in the energy transition, with interviews with the operators, the customer’s team on site and spectacular images of the land where the wind always blows.
